Business

The HyStock project aims to develop large-scale hydrogen storage in four salt caverns, each with an approximate storage capacity of 240 GWh. This initiative supports the energy transition and enhances flexibility. HyStock is an initiative by EnergyStock B.V., which will provide future hydrogen storage services and act as the contracting party.

Our approach is to provide hydrogen storage services in an open access, transparent and non-discriminatory manner, and tailored to evolving market needs. Please note that some dates are indicative and may be subject to change.

Project developments

The project has made considerable progress in recent years. Below is an overview of key achievements and upcoming steps in the project:

Service offering

HyStock is designed to be multicycle and will allow up to 14 full cycles of complete injection and withdrawal of the working gas volume per cavern annually. Each cavern will have approximately the following parameters:

Storage bundles

The hydrogen storage capacity of HyStock will initially be offered through fixed storage bundles, each with similar predefined specifications for:

  • Injection capacity
  • Withdrawal capacity
  • Working gas volume

Customers will have 24/7 access to contracted services, with the flexibility to nominate injection and withdrawal as needed. The storage will only be accessible via the hydrogen pipelines of Hynetwork. The exact specifications of these storage bundles will be determined based on technical constraints and market demand. To assess this demand, potential customers are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EoI). These EoIs also aim to further define the specifications of the storage bundles.
