HyStock selects contractor for Zuidwending hydrogen storage facility

HyStock has selected HyAlliance (a VOF partnership between Bilfinger and Jorritsma Bouw) as the contractor for the construction of the above-ground installation of the underground hydrogen storage facility in Zuidwending. This contract was signed today during an official signing ceremony by Sandy Bonner (Bilfinger), Diederik Damkat (Jorritsma), and Pieter Smith and Gerard van Pijkeren (Gasunie/EnergyStock).

With this selection, we are taking an important step in the preparation of the project. HyAlliance will start preparatory work in September 2026, aimed at ensuring optimal and safe execution.

The actual construction phase will only start after completion of the permitting process and the final investment decision (CFID) has been made. Project execution will be led by Hans Reitzema and Foppe Feenstra (HyAlliance), and Bert Stouwie and Luuk Wellens (HyStock).

Underground hydrogen storage is an important part of future energy infrastructure. With this step, we are carefully advancing to the next phase of the HyStock project.
