Minister Van Veldhoven visits evaluation drillings at HyStock

Last Monday, the evaluation drillings of the HyStock project in Zuidwending received special attention. Minister Stientje van Veldhoven and State Secretary Jo-Annes de Bat of Climate and Green Growth visited the site to see for themselves how work is progressing here on the next step in underground hydrogen storage in the Netherlands.

They spoke with local officials and residents about the development of the salt caverns for hydrogen. They then visited cavern site A5, where preparatory work is currently underway for the construction of the first underground hydrogen storage cavern.

It is great to see how national government officials are seeking to understand what is required in practice to make the energy transition possible. Together, we are working step by step towards a sustainable energy infrastructure, with a focus on safety, the environment and collaboration.
