Market consultation cushion gas first cavern launched

On Friday, July 11th, we launched a market consultation regarding the future supply of hydrogen as cushion gas for the HyStock Project. This gas is required to displace brine from the cavern and to maintain the minimum pressure level. For the first cavern, approximately 7 to 15 kilotons (kt) of hydrogen is required.

The purpose of this consultation is to gather insights from market participants interested in supplying cushion gas via the national hydrogen network between 2030 and 2032. These insights will help us align the procurement process with market developments.

The deadline for submitting responses is 5 September 2025, after which follow-up discussions may take place. We look forward to the responses and a successful development of HyStock.
