Start of hydrogen storage demonstration project
On Monday 23 August we will start the demonstration project on hydrogen storage at our location. This was planned for the spring, but was postponed due to a blockage in the drill pipe. This blockage has now been resolved.
The work will take place in Zuidwending at location A8. A cavern has not yet been made here, but a borehole has been drilled. This enables us to do a lot of research with small quantities of hydrogen. We are going to build in materials and components that are suitable for storing hydrogen in order to assess how this works. The work will take about four weeks. During this period various mobile installations will be present on site, which will also be used outside normal working hours. The work may involve some noise. We will also use work lights. We will be working 24 hours a day for two times two days. After completion of the work, everything will be returned to its original state, after which the next phase of the project will follow later this year (from November). We have had an animation made about the demonstration project:
